Crochet Roses and a Walk Around the Garden

Hello and happy Tuesday.
Hope that I find you all well?
First things to show you are my wedding shoes!I used one of my favourite patterns from one of my favourite books, cute and easy crochet with flowers.
I really love hooking up these lovely roses.
Being tall I always knew my shoes would have to be flat, so I picked up these white pumps and thought they could do with some crochet related jazzing up!
I used drops cotton light it was a dream to crochet with.
I'm really pleased with the look of them and think they will fit our vintage wedding theme well.

A Mystery Tour and CAL

Hello and how are you?
It's been a less busy week as I've had a few days off, so I've been able to enjoy having my daughter at home. She is on her half term week and has enjoyed it very much so far.
We've had a trip to the zoo, country walks and my daughter has enjoyed sleep-overs with her Grandmother and Dad.
Last weekend my partner and I enjoyed a lovely mystery tour, this is what we call a drive with no idea where we are going or why! It's nice to discover places and roads you've never been to or down before, even if they're in your local area.
Here are some photos from our tour...
What fabulous views we enjoyed! My partner was very patient with me constantly asking to stop to take photos every five minutes ha ha!
I've started making a quilt!! I love a challenge Joy....it's a start - we will have to see if I ever finish it... Now, I'm sure most of you are familiar with Helen Phillips's Blog Well, after Christmas I finally treated myself to her book pretty patchwork gifts and have found myself totally inspired by it and have used her wonderful influences in my quilt.
A recommended read if you love everything on her blog - check the book out you'll love it too!
I've picked up the hook this week too, and have started another endless granny square quilt but in brighter colours this time. I thought the colours looked quite summery and would fit in nicely on the decking in the summer.

Welcome to my new followers - so lovely to have you with me.
Hope you've all enjoyed a lovely week?
Thank you so much for your lovely comments on the last post, you've made me realize that beige isn't always boring!

CAL Winter Walking

Hello to you.
I've really enjoyed getting back into the swing of things, reading everyone's blogs and seeing what you've been up to...
My bag, I'm afraid, is not finished yet...
But it's all made up and just needs to be lined and then I will be showing the finished article off.
This week I have made some bird house bunting which I found in issue six of Simply Crochet. My daughter has snapped it up for her bedroom already!
It was a fun and quick project.
Joining again with lovely Chrissie and Marianne

Chrissie Crafts

On the weekend I visited my parent's house and took a few photos of signs of life in their garden.

Also this week, when the weather has been bright we have enjoyed some walks at the top of our village where we saw some amazing views...
Hope you all enjoy a lovely weekend whatever you may be doing.
Off now to see what everyone has been up to this week in the CAL.
Thank you for your lovely comments about the bag and views - sometimes I forget how lucky I am living in such a beautiful part of the world.

On a Cold and Frosty Morning CAL

My crochet bag is coming along nicely and starting to look sort of bag shaped.
Lots more joining to do and some straps to make and then I will be ready to line it.

Chrissie Crafts
So happy to be crocheting along again with Marianne  and Chrissie.
looking forward to seeing what everyone has been up to.

Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to have this view every day on our walk to school.
The school run is made easier with views like this.
The mist was hanging over the river.....
....and circling the village.
The sun began to break through.

Trying to keep myself from those January blues and appreciating the everyday lovely things I see.
Hope you've enjoyed coming along with me on my school run.

Hoping you've all had a wonderful week and enjoy a lovely weekend.
Welcome hold heatedly to my new followers lovely to have you with me.

Kicking the January Blues

Hello to you.
Hope the new year is treating you all well so far?
I can be quite a miserable Martha in January, so I've taken it upon myself  to do my best to stay positive and count my blessing more.
My negativity can get the better of me sometimes.
Here are a few photos of things that have made me happy this week.
Pretty orchid gracing my Grannie's conservatory.
I love the simplicity of these flowers.
Putting away the Christmas decorations is always a sad occasion but I will look forward to seeing my Grannie's nativity set in December.
Our new addition is settling in well and sometimes you'd never guess she was feral only a few months ago.
My Grannie's dog always makes me smile she's such a sweet natured girl who just wants to be loved.
Another thing that never fails to cheer me up is getting out in the fresh air.

I think we can all get a bit of cabin fever when we are stuck indoors for too long.

A nice family walk, carefully crossing the cattle grid!

This post box made me smile.
When my brother and I were children we would regularly visit this post box to send away Grannie's letters I think we took it for granted then.

Chirk Castle one of our favourite national trust places....

All closed up for winter at the moment but will be bursting with people in the spring, not to mention snow drops!

Hope your all well and happy.
Thank you for your lovely new year messages
xx

Well it's getting there. Nearly finished. I've been hooking away a few lines at a time, taking my time and enjoying the bright cheery colours as I go.
It's very cosy around the shoulders!
My partner and I enjoyed a rare treat...a Monday off and time to spend together.
Being members of the national trust, and my partner needing fresh air, we went along to Erddig, a beautiful house and garden.
Firstly I must show you the beautiful Dahlias they had, it's certainly Dahlia season there!
The yellow one in the last photo was bigger than my hand, stunning.

Getting outdoors always makes me feel more alive.

Autumn Days

Hello to you.
Hope you've all enjoyed a lovely weekend?
We've all been affected here by some kind of virus...I think, fingers crossed, we are all getting rid of it now. Fresher's flu my neighbour calls it as it always seems to happen when the children go back to school/ college in September.
I've been anticipating the new crochet along (CAL) which has been organised by two of my favourite blogs.
I haven't got a copy of cute and easy crochet yet but I'm hoping to join in, in some way.
Sounds like it could be fun.

A busy weekend all in all. We've enjoyed some lovely sunny weather, perfect for getting outside before the chillier months set in.
I had an urge to make a toadstool the other night so a stitched up this little pretty. I've pinned it on my coat for a bit of extra colour.

Although Autumn has arrived I still have some lovely blooms about the place...
1, The broken coffee pot with some sunflowers and hydrangeas from the garden.
2, A bargain from home base 50p pretty in pink cyclamen.
3, Lovely rose in the sun, smelling so sweet.

More photos from our walks.
1, An amazing view from the tops of the mountains local to us. Views out over the castle.
2, Sunshine breaking through the aqueduct.
3, Sheep!
4, My daughter getting into her photography down by the river.

Some photos from the garden this week.
1, Purple cauliflower.
2, Cosmos still in bloom.
3, Spider on a cut stem.
4, My first crop of purple sprouting broccoli.

Thank you so much for my lovely comments on the last post, I always love to hear from you and thank you to my new followers - lovely to have you here with me.
Hope you all enjoy a lovely week.

The Last Camp Of Summer

Hello to you.
How are you all?
It's been one of those weeks when nothing happens for days, then it all happens at once.
I've had a cold the past few days that seems to have knocked me a bit...but I seem to be getting better now. Slowly.
I've been hooking away at yet another blanket. My colourings are inspired by Cath Kidston.
I spent last weekend in a field in Shrewsbury, England, at a music and comedy festival. It was good fun, with a sleeping bag and quilt we had a very warm nest to sleep in after a fun night listening to music and eating Mexican food.
The weather here has been very changeable.
A rainy day to start the week. It does make the fennel and cobwebs look beautiful.
The mountain ash (rowan) tree is laden with bright red berries. The birds seem to love them.
These photos are from today when we've had temperatures in the 20s.
I'm not the best of cooks but even I can manage a crumble! I used rhubarb and elderberries from my September harvest, I always enjoy cooking more when it's my own home-grown produce.

Yesterday was so sunny we all decided to go out for some fresh air. We are very lucky to live not too far away from such lovely walks.
Can you see me waving in the shadow? The last photo shows my brother, my daughter and my brother's girlfriend who are visiting us at the moment from down south.
My brother and I are very close and I love having him to stay - makes me feel like a happy child again, sharing memories and laughing at in-jokes together.
My partner broke the lid to this coffee pot! Initially I was not amused, but don't you think it makes a nice vase?
I couldn't bear to throw it out.
I will finish on my car boot sale bargains bought today. Maybe not to everyone's taste but I love my deer and picture.
"Tina" by J H Lynch my very beautiful lady £30...I know I know hardly a bargain but I looked her up tonight on eBay and she's going for £80-odd.
Little deer part of a box for a £1 which I filled with all sorts of vintage china, books and CDs.

Thank you very much for the well wishes and comments as always.
Hope you've had a lovely weekend, whatever you've been up to.
xx
