Birds and Dolls

Hello.
How has your week been so far? Good I hope.
It's been a busy week here.
The usual working and visiting my Grandad in north east Yorkshire.
It's about 4 hours away from where we live in north wales luckily my daughter has always been good on long journeys.
Always nice to get away for a few days.

This week crochet wise I have jumped on the Attic 24 band wagon and hooked up five bower birds.
You can find the pattern here
They hook up a treat with clear and well written instructions.

I really enjoyed the stitching parts where I could personalise each birdie and give it, it's own character.

I wanted to show you my mantel piece because its made me smile this week having not one but two vases of flowers and my new dolls.
The nesting dolls were a bit of an extravagance for me, especially when I'm supposed to be paying for a wedding.
But...
I do love them.
So you may have just seen that I mentioned the wedding eek its getting close now!
Just over 2 weeks.
So if I do go quiet you will know what I'm doing. I'm hoping to keep up with things.
I will leave you with these chirpers!
Have a lovely weekend.
xx

Blue Bird and Weekend Wanderings

Hello to you...
Well, it's been a busy weekend...
Had a lovely Fathers Day, today making my Daddy lunch and having a good laugh.
I hope you'll enjoy some photos from this weekend.
The crochet owl now has a friend, blue bird.

Chives in full bloom.

Pretty pink Peony.

Alliums (again)

Cheeky snail.

Dusty sunning himself.

Bees.

The Ceanothus is in full blue bloom.

The bees love it.

It was literally buzzing while photographing it.

My best friend and I took a trip to Leeds.
I was so pleased to pick up a Cath Kidston teapot in the sale.

I think it might need a tea cosy...I must get myself over to ladybirddiaries to use her fab tutorial.
Hope that everyone has a lovely week, whatever you're doing.

Watch The Birdie

Hello hope everyone has had a lovely sunny day...
It's been a lovely sunny day here in north wales. The garden is starting to spring to life, the flower beds are filling out nicely and colours are breaking through. I've noticed today the large flowering cherry is popping now with lovely white blossom.
It always makes me smile to see the little leaf buds starting to burst open showing the beautiful fresh green new leaves inside.
I've been having a sort out in my sewing room today and discovered some forgotten birdies I made last year.
Here they are hanging from the lilac tree in the garden.
A tree full of birdies.
Some of the birds have dried lavender inside and smell wonderful.
This bird is made from vintage dress fabric.
A box full of loveliness.

Twit too hootie owls!

Lavender heart hanger.

I enjoyed making this vintage pin cushion I used very old Laura Ashley fabric from my Grannies collection topped off with a vintage button.

So the plan with these is to donate them to a local rehabilitation centre where they work with people who have mental and physical disabilities.
They have a craft table where they sell wares to raise money for activities and up keep of the centre.
If they sell I will keep donating in the hope that doing something I enjoy helps.

Anyhoo on a different subject my daughter and I had some visitors to the garden yesterday we were so excited to see them....
Here they are having a nose around the veg garden! My daughter and I couldn't resist giving them a cheeky slice of bread they seemed to enjoy it.
My guess was they were looking for the perfect nesting place....so fingers crossed for some ducklings soon.
I spotted these pretty narcissi that have opened over the last few days. I love the two tone yellow.
The hyacinths are out...and smell wonderful the breeze keeps wafting the aroma down the my favourite sitting spot.
Hope everyone is having a lovely week

A Pretty Vintage Find

Over the last couple of days I've been busy sowing  the rest of my seeds, more sweet peas, beans, courgettes, cosmos and hollyhocks. Keeping my fingers crossed for more sunny weather.
It has got warmer over the last few days here which has lifted my sprits a little, I hope its a sign of things to come we really could do with a decent summer if anything is to grow well.
Every window sill in the house is now full of seed trays and propagators.

I was treated to a "potting shed" sign I haven't got a potting shed yet but I've been promised one this summer my partner is going to design and build it himself.
I popped into town where I indulged in one of my favourite things junk, charity and second hand shop shopping.
I love it, you never know what you might find. I think its great how you can find something that's totally unique to all the mass produced things and it's recycling!
On this occasion I found two lovely bird prints and a very impressive handmade vintage crochet cushion both where absolute bargains the prints being £4.50 for two and the cushion only £1.50 unbelievable value.

The above print is of a fire crest
 and a blue tit
I was really pleased with the vintage cushion its the perfect colours for my bedroom.
I wanted to say that I'd made this but I couldn't do it! I love the muted pinks and greys in the cushion and the intricate crochet.
Maybe one day I'll make something like that!
