Tales from the Riverbank

 Hello to you.
Hope you're all well?
A huge welcome to my newest followers.
I've been enjoying hooking these old hangers pretty.

The sun has been shining here in Wales. We are still enjoying the heat wave.
My partner and I made the most of our last day together before my daughter broke up from school.
We found a shady spot by the river...

With a lovely view of the bridge.

We found a twisty tree to make camp under.

A view of the mountains.

Nature's parasol.

Blue skies and shallow waters.

Cooling off with a quick paddle...check out the top knot shadow!

My partner following the fishes!
It really was wonderful spending some quality time together, enjoying the sun and quiet surroundings.
My lovely neighbour very kindly gave us some cherries from her tree.

I couldn't let you go without showing you some photos of the garden!
My first sunflower - I've never managed to grow them from seed before.
They're flourishing this year!

I think a sun flower just screams summer.
One of the sunflowers must be 7ft tall, towering above the garden.
Monarda adding much needed colour.

Sweet Pea Cuparni

Geum

Not sure what this is- really ought to keep my plant labels!

Or this!

One of my daughter's courgettes. She's done very well this year with her bumper harvest.
I hope you have a wonderful week.
Thank you so much for the lovely comments on the last post.
xx

  2. I always love your garden pics! You have a gorgeous garden, and a magical green thumb to have such a lovely range of flowers and veg! Well done little one with those courgettes, we're going to have a huge harvest, too...I suspect we'll all be exchanging recipes by the end of August! Chrissie x

  3. Lovely post FB - superb views of your beautiful countryside, and the garden shots are gorgeous once again: how about that courgette - I bet your daughter is thrilled to have grown that! And sweet gifted cherries!
Look at the colours in that beautiful sunflower FB - now what does that suggest to you? I am talking hooky again of course!
You've done a lovely job with the coat hangers - very pretty!
So now it's school holidays - that'll keep you out of mischief or maybe get into it - who knows! I'll look forward to hearing!

    1. Hello Joy,
I've been visiting my Grandad over the last few days so sorry I haven't replied to you until now.
Oh my daughter was very proud of her courgettes, I arrived home earlier and we now have some marrows too!
Oh I should think it will get me into mischief hehe.
The holidays are going well so far...with maybe a little mischief xx

  4. I really love sweet peas, I was introduced to them when I was nine and my affection has never waned. I have the same issue with small pink-lavender flowers with yellow centers, they seem to grow wild at our community garden. All of the other pix are great! What a wonderful plan to get some alone time before school closes for the (summer?) break. My grandson has been out for summer since mid-June and return the second week of September. I love summer break. More time for parks & swimming. I have my grandsons three days a week, while their mom is in Culinary School. My son-in-law works 11PM-7AM so he sleeps during the day. So, enough about myself. I'll be thinking about you enjoying your daughter's break.

  5. Thank you for visiting my blog and for your comments too. I am now your newest follower :-)
These superb views bring back great memories of Wales which I used to visit during my summer holidays because my Dad's family came from Seven Sisters. I remember some fantastic picnics and walks my Aunt would take us on. Sweet memories :-)
I totally agree with you sunflowers do scream summer...it just seems right to see a huge sunflower nodding its head in the summer sun.

Well there you go....I've been crocheting for a long time and still not done a coat hanger cover. Nothing better to recycle something used!

    keep well

    Amanda :-)

  8. Lovely photos. You did a great job with the hanger! I'm glad you had a last romantic day with your partner; this year my husband and I will have every other Friday morning together while both kids are at school. I can't wait to spend time with him kid-free during daylight hours! Ha.
