Patch Work Bag Cute and Easy Crochet

Hello, hello!

I've been wondering for a while what to do for my next project.

Recently I've bought a few books from my amazon wish list one of which being Cute and easy crochet. I enjoyed Nikki Trench's cute and easy crochet with flowers so much I wanted to have this one too!

So the new year project! A patchwork granny square bag I thought.

I made a quick start last night and hope to take my time and enjoy it.

Lots of cheery colours perfect for all these grey days we've been having.

I'm still picking up and putting down my hexagon blanket too, I quite like to have a couple of projects going at once.

CAL Pretty Flower Brooch

Hello to you.

Hope you're all well?

This week I have had some changes in my life. I've got myself a little part time job cleaning and ironing for a family down the road. Prefect timing - just before Christmas!

I made myself a little flower brooch this week.

I've finally managed to treat myself to Cute and Easy Crochet with Flowers.

Here is my lovely new copy.

I wanted to start myself off with a quick project, so I chose the brooch.

The book is full of amazing projects.

Some of which the ladies from the CAL crochet-along are making.

LadybirdDiaries and Chrissie Crafts are making a beautiful hexagon blanket.

 

So I made all the bits first...

Then sewed them together, easy as that.

Here it is on my cardigan! ready for its first outing.

I must say I'm really enjoying joining in with the crochet-along. I really enjoy popping into other blogs and seeing the lovely things they're making.

 



 

This time my crochet is definitely blooming. Still working on the CK inspired blanket only a few more rows to go now! And then I can get bordering.

Time to get organised

Hello to you...

Still working on the cushions -

They are growing slowly.

 

I've been busy today, getting a bit more organised.

I've always kept my yarn labels.

Having a cuppa and a chat with my Mum she suggested why not stick them in a book then I can flick through with easy access.

Good idea I thought, then took it a bit further and stuck samples of yarn in so I can see the exact colour.

This may not be new to all you organised Annie's.

My yarn was in chaos...I'm never going to be super organised but I'm a step closer.

I find it useful to jot down what yarns I've used and where too.

Excuse the writing.

I just used a cheap note book, bought in a sale last year.

Lots of yarns!

 

While making the book I realised how much yarn I've got!

You can never have too much though, can you?

Books and Shades

 

 

Hello to you...

I've  had some truly lovely comments on my last post, thank you so much for stopping by taking the time to comment.

This week I've been mostly indoors due to the rainy weather.

Perfect time to snuggle up with a book my friend and neighbour kindly gave me to have a look at.

It's called "Crochet Workshop" by Erika Knight.

It's well worth a peruse.

I found the section showing different crochet stiches very interesting, being fairly new to crochet I didn't realise that there are so many!

There are some lovely projects too the Asymmetrical cardigan has to me my favourite, I think I will need wore practice before I attempt that.

 

 

 

I've been sitting in the window crocheting a basic cushion. I ran out of yarn shortly after the photo so will have to  wait to finish it. I'm using woolcraft new fashion 885 walnut such a bargain at £1.25 a ball.

This here is one of my favourite things. It belonged to my Great Grandmother (big Nana) It's battered and faded but I love it.

Sometimes it's the history as well as the item.

 

Lastly...

My Mum knowing my love of flamingos bought me a present this week.

Some super pink and glittery shades!

I think there amazingly kitsch.

 

Hope everyone is having a lovely week so far.

I'm very excited, we are visiting the zoo tomorrow (I think I'm more excited that my daughter)

Bootsale Bargains

Sunday is car boot sale day. It was a lovely morning the sun was shining. Now the weather is warming both the local car boots near me are in full swing.

 

I was quite restrained for me. I think because we showed up late most of the great buys had gone....you have to get there early I think for the real bargains.

I bought two books.

 

Lovely Laura Ashley living room book and a vintage crochet book.

The crochet book has some fab patterns.

Some are quite dated but with a change of colours they could be great.

The Laura Ashley book has lots of inspiring photos.

This garden room is beautiful like having the outdoors inside.

Now I just need some time to read them properly!

I have a pile of magazines and books waiting for me to read them.

 

 Do you remember me telling you about the hanging birds I made for the rehabilitation centre....Well there they are on the craft stall at the centre, my partner kindly took a picture for me to see.

The centre staff liked them so much they made a special stand for them! Eek very exciting hope they make some money for new activities for the people who use the centre.

The Great British Sewing Bee and a Sneeky Peek...

Hello just a quick one today.

Went on the weekly shop this morning it never fails to make me irritated spending so much money on food and essentials but hey it's got to be done.

So imagine my joy when I got to the book aisle and spied the Great British Sewing Bee book!

I've been an avid viewer of the programme on at 8pm on a Tuesday on bbc 2 and was so disappointed that  it's going to be the last one next week it's gone so quick! Wish they could have squeezed some more episodes.

Not being one to spend frivolously....I had to make an exception and buy it.

It did help that it was half the cover price and my partner insisted and kindly treated me to it.

 So I think there will be some sewing projects on the cards very soon. It's packed full of ideas and tutorials although it only comes with one pattern I'll forgive it! very excited about delving into it properly later when I have some quiet time after my daughter has gone to bed.

The sneaky peek is the crochet blanket I have started at the top of the photo. I wanted to do something colourful and not very complicated so I've started single crocheting a row at a time.

A nice a project that doesn't take too much concentration and can be picked up and put down.

Down at the bottom of the garden

Snail!

I've always loved snails being a keen gardener you'd think it would be the opposite but no!

I have fond memories of collecting snails in the garden as a child studying them drawing them and racing them.

A strange love you may think......but imagine my excitement when I came across a pattern for a crocheted snail.

I love going to my local library I love the smell and the quiet atmosphere and I always come away with arm fulls of books usually craft books and among them this time I had "super-super cute crochet"

Here she is Shelly the snail! I know an imaginative name :)

I love this daffodils sold in aid of Marie Claire a lovely mix of Narcissus
