Crochet Roses and a Walk Around the Garden

Hello and happy Tuesday.

Hope that I find you all well?

 First things to show you are my wedding shoes!I used one of my favourite patterns from one of my favourite books, cute and easy crochet with flowers.

I really love hooking up these lovely roses.

Being tall I always knew my shoes would have to be flat, so I picked up these white pumps and thought they could do with some crochet related jazzing up!

I used drops cotton light it was a dream to crochet with.

I'm really pleased with the look of them and think they will fit our vintage wedding theme well.

I cant believe we only have 3 months left before the big day.

Stash busting gypsy carvan blanket CAL

Hello to you.

It's been a good week so far - the temperature has risen a little and I haven't seen rain for a few days... Woo hoo!

With the weather set to get better next week spring is certainly in the air.

I've picked up the hook again this week and have decided to take on my biggest project yet, a huge granny square blanket to go on the back of my sofa. It's also helping me do some much needed stash busting.

Oh dear I have let my stash mount up - so many opened left overs.

I've made a start making lovely circular middles and I now have 13 squares made with ends stitched in! I'm quite impressed with the progress so far. All photographed on my new coffee table, it has a very handy shelf underneath for keeping my crochet magazines...

My summer colour blanket is growing slowly...

Here are some signs of spring in my garden.

Look what I found while stash busting - a lovely new ball of matching beige yarn! So it looks like I will be growing my never-ending granny blanket a little further... Lucky I didn't fasten off properly!

I'm secretly happy to be hooking away on this relaxing project again.

I'm Leaving On a Jet Plane...

 

 Hello, hello.

How are you all?

Well I hope.

I'm off on holiday soon so I thought I'd write a quick post before I leave.

I've started another simple square blanket.

I thought it would be a nice easy project to take on holiday with me.

I've gone for a bluey colour scheme this time.

I little bit different for me as I usually have to have pink in it somewhere!

I've made a start.

I quite like the way its turning out so far.

I think I will enjoy hooking away on holiday.

 

I've also recently finished a bag for my craft sale in September.

It needs a good iron, but it will have to wait 'till I get back.

Hooking in the Sun

 

Hello to you...

I have a confession to make I've still not finished my stripy blanket. My problem is I keep changing my mind as to what size to have. I think I will keep going until my yarn runs out, then I don't have to make a decision hehe. 

 

I think the colours are blending well.

I like the loose ends I'm tempted to leave them ....

I actually got to sit outside and play hooky yesterday the sun was shiny and I thought why not.

I'm thinking by mid week next week I should be finished.

 

Now for my bargain of the week....

50p from my local charity shop I'm really pleased with them.

There a good size, quite small so perfect for a quick cuppa. I love the folksy design and colours.

My daughter and I had fun making peg dolls today. Her dolly was so cute and creative it even had a parasol.

Vintage Shopping and Finished Alpaca Scarf

 With my partner being roped into working another Saturday, my daughter and I headed off to see my parents for the day. I love going to my parents house it's always like going home, they still live in my childhood home. It's so nice that my daughter can see all the things that I used to when I was a child, the frog spawn in the pond, the tree my swing hung from, my favourite climbing tree and the best places to find snails!

My mum also keeps chickens my daughter really enjoys collecting the eggs and petting them. I wasn't keen on chickens but I've warmed to them slightly I wouldn't want to pick them up though!

Another thing I like to do when I'm at my parents house is to pop over to a near by antiques shop with my Dad that sells everything from true antiques to modern day so there's a lot in between. I'm afraid I got a little snap here being full of great things to photograph.....

 One of my favourite things are vintage cases great for storing fabrics and yarns.

Beautiful old till with intricate engraved pattern so pretty a lot more attractive than modern ones.

I really want this but I cant afford it so I had to do with a picture instead! *sigh*

Collection of knitting needles all reasonably priced.

I was very restrained and only bought one thing that I just couldn't leave behind. Sometimes you just know you'll regret it if you don't get it....so I did.

 Here it is you'll have to trust me it looks better in real life

 The idea was to photograph it on the washing line......but it's raining :(

It's a vintage shawl, but I'm thinking I might use it on my bed as long as everyone promises not to sit on it! (I'm guessing this wont happen)

So on to the scarf I don't know if you remember, but I posted a photo of some new wool I'd bought on my visit to the wool shop well its been used.

It's wonderful quality yarn and very soft.

Making a start, shortly after I had added the second ball of wool/yarn I'm not sure what happened but I managed to increase the stiches to my scarf sort of ballooned out! opps!

So I had to undo a fair bit and start again which is always a bit disheartening when things like that happen but I persevered.

I put a trim on just to neaten the edges and to add a little detail and colour.

Well it's certainly still cold enough for a scarf here so looks like I might get to wear it a few times before its packed away for winter.

My First Granny Square Cushion

Following on from

I have found a use for the granny squares I hooked the other evening.

 

 

 

 First of all the bit I find difficult, matching colours and seeing what goes with what! Some of the blogs I seen, the bloggers seem to find beautiful colour combinations with ease.....not me maybe one day hey!

So when I'd selected my not so sure about colours, I made some smaller granny squares than I'm used to I enjoyed hooking them as they looked a lot neater than my usual squares.

I decided I still wasn't ready for another huge project so I made the squares up in to a cushion.....my first, what do you think?

My joining up is still a bit wobbly but getting there.

 I hooked a slightly scalloped edge for a little extra detail.

Ready for my close up! There's those wobbly joins haha never mind I still love it and I'm happy to have a new addition to my cushion family on the sofa.....my partner may not share the same view as he thinks I have enough already! In my opinion you can never have enough.
